The Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles tied, 23-23 on Sunday afternoon. It was the 2nd time the two teams have tied, the last time being in 2008.
The tie left both teams winless, but the Eagles are still in the NFC East race with an 0-2-1 record after the Cowboys lost to the Seahawks.
With time for one more play, the Eagles lined up for a potential game-winning 59-yard field goal. They likely felt good about their chances with kicker Jake Elliott, who was 3-for-3 in the game so far. Before the ball was snapped, though, a lineman jumped and the false start forced a punt and created the tie.
The Bengals could've elected to decline the penalty and take their chances on a missed field goal, but instead went for the more passive route.
Cincinnati's struggles with protecting the quarterback continued on week three as the combo of Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox tore apart the interior line. The Eagles had eight sacks on the day.
Joe Burrow played well despite the pressure and threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns to fellow rookie Tee Higgins.
Carson Wentz struggled for Philadelphia and threw two interceptions on the day. Wentz hasn't looked the same in the pocket this season after losing some of his top receivers like WR Dallas Goedert and WR Alshon Jeffrey.
Next week, the Bengals will return home to play the Jaguars and the Eaglers will play at the 49ers.
