With the return of QB Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints made defeating the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8 look like a breeze.
The New Orleans Saints are scheduled for a bye in Week 9 of the 2019-20 NFL season. Their 7-1 season record is the result of relentless team efforts, including the improvising insertion of back-up QB Teddy Bridgewater over the last month and a half. When Saints administration was aware that QB Drew Brees was healthy enough to play earlier this week, they were not reluctant to insert Brees right back in the starting line-up. Today, Brees went 34/43, tossing for 3 TD's, and a total of 373 passing yards. I believe the leadership of Brees simply changes the charisma of the this team and today‘s outing made this theory more emphatic. With a thriving defense, the Saints just might be one of the top tier teams to emerge and contend for the title in late January.
Rookie QB Kyler Murray was slighted by many NFL analyst (including myself) during the preseason. Nevertheless, the Arizona Cardinals have still remained competitive throughout the 1st half of the NFL season and it is time to give head coach Kliff Kingsbury some credit. The Arizona Cardinals will welcome the San Francisco 49ers into Glendale this upcoming Thursday in an NFC West battle that may be flying under the radar of many. Though the 49ers have been brutal on defense, they'll have to adjust to the speedy dynamics of Murray to enter Week 10 8-0. Of course the Arizona Cardinals aren't playoff contenders in the NFC but they have shown that they aren't willing to let any team just landslide them on the gridiron so far this year. It's great to see how both these franchise are progressing through eight weeks of play.
No shenanigans, just football.
