Browns Make History in Believeland

With their decisive win this weekend against Indianapolis, the Cleveland Browns move to 4-1 on the season for the 1st time since 1994.

Game Story

1st Half

  • With some effective PA-passing on their 1st drive, the Browns marched down in chunks to the red-zone, but couldn't punch it in. Cody Parkey came out to kick the FG. (3-0)

  • On a gutsy call to go for it on 4th down, the Colts drew up the perfect play for a walk-in TD by Jonathan Taylor. (3-7)

  • Jarvis Landry was a workhorse on this Browns drive, catching a pass on the helmet of a Colts defender and finding open space for another huge reception. This time Cleveland found the end-zone, as Kareem Hunt rose up for the TD grab. (10-7)

  • A diving catch by Ashton Dulin puts the Colts at the 20-yard line. They can't convert on 3rd down but punch in the field goal. (10-10)

  • Odell Beckham makes a circus catch to help the Browns for a big gain.

  • Baker finds WR Rashard Higgins to take the lead. (17-10)

  • Browns drive, run clock, and kick a FG to go into halftime up 20-10.

2nd Half

  • Philip Rivers, trying to get some points on the board, forces a throw to and into the waiting arms of S Ronnie Harrison. Harrison takes it the other way for the TD. (27-10)

  • Right after, Colts KR Isaiah Rodgers returns the kickoff for a 101-yard TD. (27-17)

  • On 2nd and 14, Baker Mayfield throws a pick, opening the door for a Colts comeback.

  • Colts reward the TO with three points and make it a one-possession game. (27-17)

  • A nice punt by Browns P Jamie Gillan puts the Colts on their own 4-yard line.

  • DE Myles Garrett bullrushes and forces Philip Rivers to throw away the ball in his own end-zone, leading to an intentional grounding call and a safety. (29-20)

  • Rivers throws another pick on the Colts next drive, this time to Sheldrick Redwine.

  • Mayfield throws a bad ball and has it intercepted by MLB Anthony Walker.

  • Rodrigo Blankenship caps off the drive with a 25-yard field goal. (29-23)

  • On their last drive, the Browns get back to the run game, and D'Ernest Johnson picks up a crucial 1st-down to close out the game.

Analysis

  • A true team win moved Cleveland to 4-1, setting up a huge divisional game next Sunday against the 4-0 Steelers.

  • The Colts move to 3-1, firmly holding on to second place in the AFC South.
