Browns secure AFC Wild Card

Game Story

1st Half

  • Nick Chubb runs in a 47 yard score on the Browns' opening drive (7-0 Cleveland)

  • Baker Mayfield finds Rashard Higgins for a huge 44 yard pick up. Later that drive, the Steelers defense forces a 23 yard field goal (10-0)

  • Mason Rudolph connects with Diontae Johnson for 41 yards, setting up a Pittsburgh 29 yard field goal (10-3)

  • JuJu Smith-Schuster bails out Pittsburgh with a 26 yard catch along the sideline, but the Steelers couldn't convert on 3rd down, forcing a clean 46 yard field goal (10-6 HALF)

2nd Half

  • Early in the third, Rudolph connects with Chase Claypool for a 41 yard play, setting up a 46 yard field goal, to put Pittsburgh within one (10-9)

  • Mayfield counters with a 26 yard run, setting up Austin Hooper's two yard TD reception, pushing the Browns lead to eight (17-9)

  • Rudolph is picked off by M.J. Stewart at midfield. Stewart has a 30 yard return to put the Browns in the red zone as the third quarter ended.

  • First play of the fourth, Jarvis Landry finds the end zone on a three yard run (24-9)

  • Rudolph finds Claypool for a 28 yard fourth down TD conversion with ten minutes left (24-16)

  • Diontae Johnson's 47 yard reception put the Steelers at the Browns' ten yard line, just as the clock hits the two minute warning.

  • Smith Schuster walks in the two yard score, an UNSUCCESSFUL two point conversion clinches the Browns' victory (24-22 FINAL)



  • Mason Rudolph: 22/39 for 313 yards for two TDs and one INT

  • James Conner: nine carries for 37 yards

  • Chase Claypool: five receptions for 101 yards and one TD


  • Baker Mayfield: 17/27 for 166 yards and one TD

  • Nick Chubb: 14 carries for 108 yards and one TD

  • Rashard Higgins: two receptions for 55 yards
