Chiefs Territory

The HB Kareem Hunt Controversy wasn't enough to keep the Kansas City Chiefs from being victorious this weekend at Arrowhead Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens.

Dealing with the unexpected absence of Kareem Hunt and the newly installed RPO Baltimore Ravens offense, Chiefs Administration had their hands full yesterday afternoon. In a game where their opponent rushed the ball on over 65% of their plays, Kansas City was forced to watch most of this game with Patrick Mahomes on the sideline. A late game push put the Chiefs in a 24-24 tie and a Lamar Jackson fumble almost allowed KC to win the game in regulation. Once obtaining a 27-24 lead in overtime, the Chiefs defense used the athleticism of DE Chris Jones and OLB Justin Houston to obliviate Lamar Jackson's scramble abilities. With a Patriots loss and a Chiefs win, Kansas City is now one step closer to seizing home field advantage all post-season in the AFC. Good job Andy Reid.

Of course the dynamic play style of QB Lamar Jackson has brought much benefit to a struggling Baltimore Ravens offense. However, when the game was on the line and Baltimore needed a big play through the air, Lamar Jackson was ineffective. Even with that said, the Ravens should be prepared to move forward with Jackson and send a healthy farewell to QB Joe Flacco. Flacco's salary may inhibit the Ravens from re-building. With Terrell Suggs and Eric Weddle aging the Ravens need too start acquiring new talent. By letting Flacco walk, the Ravens will have the opportunity to install new youth and move a few steps towards redemption. If head coach John Harbaugh will be apart of this process or not is still up in the air.
