Tom Brady and the New England Patriots dominate against the Pittsburgh Steelers during 2019-2020 home opener.
A wild crowd, fireworks, a Gronk spike, and the Super Bowl LII Championship banner reveal was only the beginning of the Pats showcase performance Sunday night. After a 33-3 win on such a special night, this team reminded everyone that they are still here.
Queue "7 Rings" by Ariana Grande because the 42-year-old quarterback Tom Brady is here to compete against these NFL young studs for yet another championship. 341 yards, 3 touchdowns, and in a post-game interview with NBC reporters he stated that the offense "could play better and there's still a lot to work on." Even with how good he looks on the field, Brady speaks of playing better in future games.
If you, like everyone else, are wondering 'how do they do this?' keep in mind that this was a game without Patriots' last-minute addition of wide receiver Antonio Brown. Yikes! Who will be the team to stop this dynasty this season? Quite honestly, I have no idea if the Pats keep everyone aligned and healthy.
Another factor of this game that needs to be discussed in the Patriots' defense. With all pregame talk being focused around their offense, Stephon Gilmore and the rest of their squad reminded us all that they too are bringing their A-game this season. Stephon Gilmore specifically stood out with his man-to-man matchup against Juju Smith-Schuster. Smith-Schuster caught 6/8 yet never crossed into the end zone for a Steelers' touchdown as their no. 1 receiver.
Next week the Pats take on the Miami Dolphins who sufficed a 59-10 loss during their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers will head back home to face the Seattle Seahawks who won 21-20.
It'll be quite interesting to see how this season unfolds for both of these teams. As both have 6 total championships, the Patriots seem to be on a steady journey up whereas the Steelers will be rapidly declining if they don't change things soon.
With that, remember, just football, no shenanigans.
