Giants edge texans

Coming into the game Sunday at NRG Stadium, both the New York Giants and Houston Texans were seeking their first win of the season. Having a halftime lead of 14 cut to five on two separate occasions in the fourth-quarter, the Giants were able to hold on for a 27-22 win. It was the Giants first win of the season, while the Texans remain without a win through three games.

Leading the Giants was Eli Manning, who went 25-29 for 297 yards and two touchdowns. However, it was not only Manning who was putting up solid numbers. Rookie Saquon Barkley had 17 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown, while Odell Beckham Jr. had 9 receptions for 109 yards on the day.

On the losing end, Deshaun Watson had a pretty good day, going 24-40 for 385 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also led the team in rushing as well, with 5 carries for 36 yards. Wide receiver Will Fuller V had 5 receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, star defensive end J.J. Watt had a day with three sacks and three tackles for losses. After playing only eight games total in the 2016-2017 seasons, Watt seems to be getting progressively better and back to his old self.

While neither team played exceptionally well throughout the course of the game, it was the multiple penalties and turnovers that really cost the Texans. They had seven penalties for 50 yards and two turnovers. The Giants only had three penalties and no turnovers. While both teams have areas they must improve on, the Giants will be happy to get their first win of the season under their belt. The Texans, on the other hand, must regroup as they still search for their first win.
