Hotlanta Nights

Nobody expected the Giants defense to halt the air attack of the Atlanta Falcons in the prime-time lights. Matt Ryan looked cozy in the pocket all evening and the Pat Shurmur led Giants have looked confounded this entire season.

All the speed routes and player personnel of the Atlanta Falcons has given defenses headaches all season long. There are not many teams with the defensive strength to stop them when they are in the groove. With under 5 minutes to go against the New York Giants, the game plan was fairly easy; run the ball. While Giants head coach watched and grit on his teeth, even he knew that with a 8 point deficit the chances of stopping the Falcons on 3rd & 6 was heavily unlikely. Surprisingly, they were able to get it done. With the 2:00 minute warning activated, Dan Quinn opted for a 56-yard field goal attempt that went straight through the uprights. Down 11, with 2 1/2 minutes to go, the Giants were pretty much out of ammo. The Giants season is a blunder, but the Falcons definitely believe that their current 4-3 season has opportunity for improvement.

Coming just short has to be frustrating for the New York Giants. Week after week, the Giants watch their would be great season fall more and more into a a squander. A last minute Odell Beckham Jr. touchdown was to no avail and the Giants locker room likely is a docile as a University library on a Saturday morning. Two teams participated in last nights contest but only one team actually had something to play for.
