Shuffling Cards

Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford has occupied starting roles for various franchises in his tenure as an NFL professional. His starting position for the Arizona Cardinals seems to be a sure thing in 2018. Despite this, Rookie Josh Rosen and Cardinals enthusiasts may be secretly desiring a shuffle in the lineup.

Let's take it back to 2016 when the Cardinals dominated the NFC West. They defeated the majority of the division before losing to the Carolina Panthers in a head scratching performance 2016 NFC Championship. With a new head coach Steve Wilks and a healthier HB David Johnson the Cardinals are thinking that 2018 will be the year they regain some tread out west. Sam Bradford is reportedly soaring as the top man behind center but Josh Rosen was drafted to help propel this franchise in the upcoming decade. Offense wasn’t particularly a strong point in the Cards debut against Los Angeles, and they’ll likely rely on the rushing attack and physical defense to leverage them wins this year. This means that QB turnovers must be minimized.

The NFC West has two emerging teams in the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. Both teams are better than Arizona on paper, but on the gridiron, true prestige has yet to be determined. AZ still has OLB Chandler Jones, the best DB in the NFL in Patrick Peterson outside to close off passing lanes and a fan base that is still relatively passionate. If they can simply game manage on offense and re-establish the running game, a climb back to the top of the division will manifest itself in the near future as they shuffle the cards.
